So whats in the RAM...

Postby Synx » Wed May 17, 2006 6:49 pm

Wow have been away for a while with work, really glad this has come so far. So at least for the Suby ECU's whats the deal with the RAM. Once i get a chance to look at my ROM hex and sit down the the motorola assembly i'd very much like to know how our ECU's are putting learned data into the ram. Maybe we could have a better way for dumping and writing to ram, and come up with something ala COBB access port, that we could use to do quick reflashes for example when changing fuels or anything else. Once i get some free time ill try to dig down into what exactly is going on with the microcode but its been a while and im not up on motorola ASM. Anybody got a head start?

Maybe get the checksum stuff figured out and we could dump all sorts of neat code into the ECU like antilag/launch control.

I've got the checksum portion figured out. Working on the rest of the "realtime" code currently. It seems only about the first 8kb of RAM is modified, I haven't taken the time to dump the entire 32kb of RAM yet since it takes about 60 minutes. I'll have more data next week to play with.

Wonder if colby(sp?) could modify the kernel boot loader to dump ram as well, iirc it goes into an unused TPU address space so ram should still be accessable no? That'd make for much quicker ram reading times. I'm sure COBB does something similar to make loading realtime maps fast. They prob wrote some extra functions into the ROM to allow for a propritary communications protocol to speed that all up. Hrm...
