Does the car have an OBD2 connector? Do you have the pinout for that? Post it here and I can check if it would work, at least at the physical / electrical level.

Yep. Like any subaru, yes, but I do not have a pic on it. It is the standard port in the driver location

THe car is an import, so no manuals came w/ it.

What I'm concerned with is what ECU it uses (Denso / JECS) and whether or not there is a reflashing voltage power supply pin in the same location on the OBD connector. I'm also wondering if it uses an ISO-9141 type interface. It probably does. Have you ever connected it to DeltaDash? Did that work?

ECU
A5
22611 AE463
A18-000 D3G
0524

ECU Manufacture is Unisia Jecs Corp.

I do not have the DD yet, but I am planning to get one. I live in the Caribbean.

But @ present, there is no reflashing software to reflash a better map, so that connector shouldn't be important yet.

Can I test for this pin?

If I get the one with the 12v pin, can I disable it until I know that it can work?

Also, how can I test for this on the connector?

Can I add the 12v pin capability later if I purchase the other connector?

I want to order the connector.

Question, the non turbo models can be flash. How comes tou have a generic connector?

Does the Delta Dash have that same 12v pin?

Do you have any support for pre 2002 wrx?

The way the case is constructed and held together, it is very difficult to take the openport apart to remove/add a pin and then put it back together. The best thing to do would be to see if your car is using this pin. If it has no connection to this pin then you can get the fully functional WRX version and not have to worry about damaging anything. If it does use the pin, then you need to find out if it is used for the same purpose or not. If not, get the non-WRX version, or you could remove/disconnect that pin socket from the OBD2 connector on the car side.

Looking into the openport male connector, the 12V programming pin is pin 11:

-------------------------------------
\ 08 07 06 05 04 03 02 01 /
\ 16 15 14 13 12 11 10 09 /
-----------------------------

Looking into the cars female OBD2 connector, the numbering would look like this:

-------------------------------------
\ 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 /
\ 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 /
-----------------------------

The standard DeltaDash interface does not do programming, so it doesn't have pin 11 or supply 12V.

I haven't done any work on pre-2002 Subarus, so I can't claim any support for them.

Hi CBoles!

What driver do I need to download to get the connector working?

I received it today in the mail.

drivers

Postby dubya_rx » Tue Jun 28, 2005 6:32 am

Which drivers for usb cable?

Page linked to has a half dozen chip drivers on it. WHICH ONE?

It would help if there was a single page which linked to all this stuff instead of having to wade through pages of posts looking for the correct incantations.

Sorry for my curtness.

I find that I am always getting problems with the driver for the open port 1.0

I have an IBM T41 Laptop w/ WinXP w/ full updates and now I cannot even detect the device.

I removed the driver, rebooted and still cannot install the driver when new hardware is found.

I think a new chip with properly support software have to be use now.

I am just not happy with the driver support.

Can you be more specific about the problem you have with the driver installation? Does the driver install correctly, but the device does not work, or is it a different problem? Run devmgmt.msc and choose View | Devices by connection, then traverse the device tree out to your USB Hub where the OpenPort is located (see attached image). Does it look like this, or are there missing / disabled device nodes?
