Sent... Thanks Cboles... I guess what it comes down to is that I can use K-line in the mean time... Im just trying to log daily driving without my laptop being in the way

Are you not running the beta version of EcuFlash on the tactrix site? I loaded your ROM into EcuFlash and the patch option was there.

Hi Colby,

I have the latest beta for Ecuflash and I see my rom image with the patch option.
Here are my ecu details:
ECU id is 5C42504007
Internal id is AZ1G101N

We can log 10x faster than Romraider with this patch right? I need to see the following in my log, can you help make the .txt file? Activation is just via defogger.

Engine Load (1-byte)** (g/rev)
Engine Speed (rpm)
Feedback Knock Correction (1-byte)** (degrees)
Fine Learning Knock Correction (degrees)
IAM (1-byte)** (multiplier)
Ignition Total Timing (degrees)
Manifold Relative Pressure (4-byte)* (psi relative)
Mass Airflow (g/s)
Mass Airflow Sensor Voltage (V)
Primary Wastegate Duty Cycle (%)
Throttle Opening Angle (%)

Optional if possible
Coolant Temperature (C)
Radiator Fan Relay #1 (On/Off)
Radiator Fan Relay #2 (On/Off)
Radiator Fan Relay #3 (On/Off)

Thanks! I recently got my tactrix and am so satisfied with it.

Cboles > I dont know If i am... I thought I was using the most up to date.. The last time I did a download and install on ecu flash was about two- three weeks ago... But i see the beta for the patch was recently posted... I will try and see if K-line works and then try the patch if it doesn do what I need...

Also is it possible to log reall time? By real time I mean actual time, IE 3:34.234 PM etc etc... this way we know what we were doing during that particular log...

I'm not sure RomRaider supports this feature yet. There are two things that would need to be added to the RomRaider code to start to get similar speed / functionality to the OP2 standalone logging:

1) Enable RAM parameters (e.g. 0xFFnnnn PIDs)
2) Add support for multibyte PIDs (e.g. 0xF4nnnn reads 4 bytes starting at 0xFFnnnn)

the patching has been around for a few months.

"correct" time is not possible since there is no battery backup on the OP2. if you plug a laptop in while the OP2 is plugged into a car, i may be able to make it "sync" clocks though.

Colby, do you know if the Vbatt pin is exposed on the board so that we could hook a coin cell battery to maintain the Real Time Clock? I looked at this once before, but without a way to set the RTC I never went through with installing the battery.

Thanks,
Matthew

Thanks for this Colby, I finally got it to work. For the parameters I posted, I just used the Log config utility. Limit for my set up is 16 parameters which is triggered by defroster switch. The limit is 20 right? Adding one more not make it log. Can (ssm) is just so fast compared to romraider or K line. Its getting 40 samples per second and files can just get bloated! Anyway we can control sampling rate?

I also can't gear to log, it just shows 256 for any gear. Would want to log at least 1 more parameter.

Seems to work fine now :D

Now I just need to figure out how to modify the logcfg.txt file to log what I want... Is there is list of parameter address etc somwhere?

If you have romraider installed with the latest def files, just download the Config Tool here http://forums.openecu.org/download/file.php?id=2335 Make sure that you have set up romraider first (point where you put the def files) If you havent patched your rom for CAN, just choose kline. However, I do strongly suggest you patch and do CAN.

Just choose you ecu id and internal id from the list on the left after which You'll see all available parameters. My experience is, you can only choose up to 16 parameters with the defogger trigger. Works well for me, I get 40 samples per second per parameter with Can! Thats more than I hoped for before starting with this. :-)

Colby,

Any chance the OP2 incorporates DTC reading too as it happens while logging. That would be great, easier to trouble shoot tunes as well.

I considered doing this in the design phase, but ran into a number of problems other than just cost or space issues. The most serious is that the LP23XX has a design flaw (IMHO) that would prevent it from waking from a RTC power only mode without an external smart device such as a low pin count microcontroller. The issue has to do with waking and powering up the other supplies. The current consumption of the RTC/RAM is also not spectacular - it was only going to last a month or so on a non-rechargeable coin cell IIRMCC (if i remember my calculations correctly).

I should be able to do the clock sync via the driver or ecuflash though, so if you leave it plugged into the car all the time (or at least you connect your laptop to it while it is in the car), it could have a correct clock.

the parameter limit has been raised to 60. there are other issues with SSM that limit the number of things you can ask for (or get back) with one request since the K-line protocol only supports lengths up to 255, and the CAN protocol has inherited this limitation. remember that you can use sample groups to allow more parameters to be sampled, with those in a group being lower speed than the rest. i am thinking of adding an option to set the fastest sampling rate if you are concerned about that. personally, i like the speed, and never have trouble with cards filling up.

that might be possible via SSM. if i tried it via OBD, you wouldn't be able to log SSM at the same time as OBD is a dedicated mode for the ECU. if you knew the RAM addresses where the DTC bits are stored in your ROM, you could just log them right now, on CAN at least.

Merchgod over at Romraider has created a freeware called Learning View. Program allows him to see temporary and stored dtc codes using OP. Here's the thread, maybe you can implement something similar to the standalone logging. http://www.romraider.com/forum/topic2772.html
