Same problem today on my 05 LGT. ER HC on the speedo and Get Kernel Error. Everything flashed OK and I clicked on Compare to ECU to double check. All CRC's were ok. Turned the car off. It won't start now.

What version of cable are you using? 1.2 or 1.3? I have 1.3. Flashed many times before with 1.2 and worked every time. I tried the 1.3 maybe 4 times and now this??

Is it normal for the black connector to separate into 2 pieces when removing it from the OBD plug? Does it need more glue?

I emailed Colby. I'm hope he can provide some support.

What was the calibration ID of the ROM image you flashed onto your LGT's ECU?

That sounds correct if your car has the manual transmission.

Some 2005 Legacy GT owners with AccessPorts have reported similar symptoms after a reflash (see http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27066). One owner was able to clear the problem by doing a hard reset (remove cable from negative battery terminal for a few minutes). I suspect that it was the Body Integrated Module which benefitted from the reset.

Yeah, I saw that post. I removed the actual ECU and left it out overnight. Next day, same problem. I think there must be a bug somewhere in the ecuflash or the cable itself as this is an unexpected catastrophic issue.

Ecuflash said that everything is fine. All CRC's ok even after checking them again.

Who can program these ECU's on the bench?

I know Colby can, but he hasn't replied to my emails yet (got reply that he read them so maybe he is looking into it)

i would opt for a bench reflash, just seems like there is something wrong with the kernel bootloader and it needs to be bypassed and raw data (stock rom) written back to it....

This is like pulling teeth. REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE! The message displayed on the Trip Odometer, ER HC, indicates a problem with the high-speed CAN bus and it was set by the Body Integrated Module. Resetting the BIM might clear the problem. If it doesn't, you should try following the diagnostic procedure for ER HC in the service manual.

did you apply the checksum fix to the rom?
my car did the exact same thing when I flashed a non-checksum fixed rom back to my car.

Quick question, for my own stock rom, do I need to apply the checksum fix when I want to flash it back to my car?

Removed the negative battery cable overnight. No fix. Removed the ECU from the car overnight. No fix. Finally send it to Colby.

since this was before the checkbox functionality, I used tinyhexer to manually fix the checksum.
