OBS GC8 USDM MY99 is a DENSO...

Postby blaznc » Sun May 14, 2006 10:22 pm

Hi, I have a California spec 1999 Impreza 2.2liter L model that I turboed, and am using the Link+ in now. I have been reading through these forums and tariracing and it looks like all this reflashing stuff is for the Newer Denso ECU and NOT the JECS ecu. Is "JECS" a special designation of the older Denso ecu's? My ECU is a B3 AE530 and made by Denso. Can I use this software to reflash it? If I can then you 00RS guys might want to pickup this ECU because it is almost pin for pin compatible, as the 99 California spec L model's went over to MAP.

Yeah its really wierd. I was working on an 00 legacy last night and the case was totally wierd, and it definitely said denso on it. It did however have that little swoosh logo that I attribute to JECS. Definitely wierd.

can someone that has one of those NA "denso" crack it open and look at the chip?? Thats what will tell s whether it can be flashed with the kernals which are done.

Took pictures last night...here is the main CPU D151851, seems to be very close to the WRX CPU and identical to some RX7 CPU according to google...Color inverted and normal colors so you can read it better.

So any idea if the kernel's we have now will support it? I will order the cable and slap the ECU back in my car when I get it back from the shop in 2 weeks.

Ok update, got the cable hooked it up and it failed...but using Calvin's Tari ecuExplorer software I was able to execute the "ecuQuery" function and get back some data. I don't know if this actually helps or anything but I am assuming that it is a step in the right direction. Is there anything I can do now to facilitate someone who is currently deveolping flashing code for our ECU's? It seems that it is a denso and w/the proper protocols I should be able to read and write the ROM...

I would also need this to work...

I think we all should go Hydra and other Full Management system.

It is a waste of time posting here.

I know Colby is the only one doing this and it is sad that everything is upon him.

I-Speed did some research and came out w/ a tool for the NA models.

I know a lot of time have been spent on the newer subaru models, but the Pre 2001 have been left out.

It has been over a year and I think the thread should be close down and direction made toward http://www.hydraems.com

I have Hydra in my 01 RS.

I have a pre-production box. I was one of the original users of hydra.
My RS is making 458ftlbs of torque and HP to the wheels on a mustang dyno.

I would have, but I can't even get the rom extracted from my ECU. None of the ROM download programs seem to be compatible with my car. (2000RS). I can only assume it's a JECS issue.
