I don't think a lot of people are going pony up $120 just to get rid of some delays. So, he's either going to have to lower his price, add a highly demanded feature like real-time tuning, or limit the shareware version even more.

This is Colby's site and its up to him. If he is/was interested in my input then I would recommend that commercial software like ecuedit and epifan would be banished to his own forums.

Enginuity and ecuflash all the way from now on for me.

Speaking of Enginuity's capabilities. I recently had the chance to look over one of Ev8siv's maps. For some goofy reason the Hi Det fuel map was the one modded on it as apposed to the Low Det one. Is this a definition mistake on Enginuity's part or his?

*Edit*
Actually, check that... he changed both. But still, who the hell changes the high det fuel map?

Yes, that's it. I found it kind of strange that he leaned up the top end of the Hi Det fuel map as well. Usually that map doesn't get touched by anyone since it's there for... well... safety. Doesn't matter how rich it is stock, it's there for a reason.

WOW.... I came here looking for a map to cure my ping and I guess that would explain why I still ping at 3000-4500 RPM (thats were it starts, if it continues upward I dont know). Im glad I searched all posts from the people helping me. This scares the hell out of me. Now I really want to put my stock map back on.

I still dont understand why I just started to ping after 3yrs of mods with no ping though.

Thanks,
Don

I took it from 9.90 to 10.01 to even everything out. The high det map is only used with IAM less than 4 so it isn't even in use with my tunes. In his case of getting detonation in the lower RPM area it can be many different issues. None of which are going to be a problem with the high det map because those minor changes I made in the High det map will never be accessed because of the fact they are in higher RPM and Load. And if you're going to be sitting there running it hard when you can audibly hear pinging, you've got other issues.

Now as far as his car goes, I'd suggest changing the plugs out if they haven't been done in 3 years of driving.

There should be no reason to change the hi det fuel map... period. It's not there for prettyness or not to be too rich. It's there for safety. Also, when you max the starting IAM value to 16 it's harder for the IAM value to drop if there is det in the starting driving cycle. When you log the car and it has a KC value of 0 while in boost you know there's issues with the map. Another thing is the Minimum Knock Detection Load value was changed to 2g from 1g of load. Sure, the JDM units have this, but that doesn't always make things better.

Don't misunderstand this, I'm not trying to make you look bad... I'm just stating what I saw and what I don't agree with.

Plugs (twice in 5k), air filter, fuel filter, coolent, oil, tranny oil have all been changed recently.

Tonight we tried 3 different maps and all three still caused pinging. We also logged (Im waiting for the logs) and wide banded my car. Nothing really worked. One of the guys thought I was on the lean side. We also notice that changing to a richer map didnt change AFR at all. The fuel pump also seemed to be maxed out at 100% alot. Left us wondering if my fuel pump is going out or its just not flowing as it should anymore?

Flashed back to stock and so far no ping, but Im not holding my breath. Im sure the second the AC is on or loaded with people it might ping again.

As soon as I get the logs, I will post them. Silly me forgot to ask for them before I left.

Thanks,
Don

When you're at WOT you will see fuel pump duty at 100%. This is normal. The values (and only values for the duty) are 33, 66, 100% on the fuel pump duty. With no load on the engine (idle) your duty should be 33%.

If the AFR is not changing even when you richen up the map then it sounds almost mechanical. Possibly injectors or fuel pump. What AFR are you seeing on the wideband under boost?

Something sounds very odd with your setup. If you were in SoCal I'd be able to help much more and get this squared away quickly. I would agree that some cars do not like the IAM at 16 initially, however it will ramp down quickly on any detection of knock. I've tested this by adding excessive timing and watching it drop to 8 in a matter of 200rpm.

The load change for detection seems to be working well for the cars I've run it on, it hasn't detected any false knock and extends the range of detection.

I'm going to be tuning another 2005 this weekend with similar mods as this car so we'll see how the tune varies.

Get those logs!

Hey,

I do live in SOCAL. Im in Orange County. Yeah from what we saw, richening the map did nothing. The first time we did it, it helped. the second time we did it, it was no different than the 1st time change. 3rd time we did it, it was also same as 1st time change. 2nd and 3rd changes didnt change the afr at all. I believe my AFR was low 11's even when it wasnt under full load. The guy with the wideband thought I might be running to lean. He also thought perhaps my fuel pump couldnt keep up anymore too. He suggested I change it out for a walboro. JRS also informed me that there is an updated ROM for my car. Dealership told me there wasnt a couple days back, but according to the PDF I read, there is. Im going there today to get it. They said they used my vin and called the tech hotline and confirmed there was no new map. Yet the PDF says so (no Im not going to show them the PDF).

If your in Socal, then I would love to meet up and get your thoughs on this issue Ev8siv.

I am planning on getting a compression and leak down this friday too.

Thanks,
Don
