A4TF800F - 05 WRX MT Stage 1.2 Rev5 - 91 Octane

Postby ev8siv3 » Tue Mar 28, 2006 10:43 am

Here is my first shot at a custom map. I based most of the tuning off of a Stage 1 map from a 2002 and made a few additional changes to smooth out some of the problem areas. I have tested the map and found it to run pretty smooth with a great power increase and responsiveness. Please feel free to use at your own risk and comment on your results. I am working on getting some datalogs soon as well.

My Car:
2005 WRX 5MT
K&N Panel Filter
Samco Intercooler Hoses
91 Octane Gas

Why in the heck would you set the OL/CL RPM Change over so high?
You don't want it to ever roll in to CL at part throttle?

If you can find a copy of A4TF810E/F or A4TF520E/F (2004), Subaru has fixed this issue (at least according to http://forums.openecu.org/download.php?id=214 ). I'm not sure if they made a logic change or if they hopefully just changed those values. I'd guess this is the best/safest way.

I have a fresh A4TF520F from a 2004 5MT.

If anyone out in the Agoura/Calabasas/Thousand Oaks area wants to help test out this map with me let me know and I'll get you flashed.

Just reflashed my 04 USDM WRX with the first rom (OL/CL Fix) and WOW, I am SO damn happy!!

No problems with shudder, hesitation, or the nasty hiccup at WOT! The car feels so improved that I'm driving around way faster than normal. I need to re-learn my car!

Why is the test connector such a big secret? I totally had a hard time finding info on why I was getting a voltage too low error. Then when I found the connector on the tactrix site I couldn't find any posts on where the connector was located and what pins to short.

If someone searches for 'low voltage' or 'voltage too low' and finds this post, on an 04-05 you need to find the little white 4 prong connector under the dash. It has 2 little plastic wings on either side and a lock tab on the top. You need to short the top and bottom pins on either side. Look at the image on the tactrix website for a better visual example.

Now how hard will it be to add a catless bellmouth DP (don't have one yet) and my STi uppipe (I need to wait for the DP first right?), and still find a map/ROM that fixes the OL/CL issue?

You made no change to the CL/OL changeovers for the delay period, EGT range, speed, or rpm values. Those need to be changed as well for proper opperation. Changing the % of throttle from 69 to 40 is just one of the values. Delay period needs to be changed as well as that's I believe the logic values behind it all.

This map looks pretty cool, and I think i'll start playing with it... but I have a couple questions...

1.) What is the purpose of changing the high detonation fuel table?

2.) The 2004 / 2005 maps seem to have a more aggressive ign timing under low engine load, compared to my stock 2002 image. What would be Subaru's reasoning behind this?

The only reason I ask is because I plan to try some of these values out on a 2002, and I don't fully understand why Subaru would have changed something like that.

I have posted a new version of this map on my website, link is above. I will also be posting an updated 2002 image shortly. 2002 was the first year of bringing the car here, after that things got better so I'm guessing they went back in and made some changes. Every year has a new ECU almost so it's constantly revamped.

I would recommend that you download a current A4TF520F and copy the values from my map over to that for a 2004 ECU.
