12.56v is till too low???

I tried flashing on 2 03WRX cars today and can read roms fine, but I can't flash. I get a "programming voltage too low"

I recall that being the flash block connector, but I have the connectors from tactrix, and it reads the voltage as 12.56v

It just fails after that.

any ideas?

Could you paste in the log you saw? As I understand it, the log was saying that the voltage was 12.56V, but subsequently said the voltage was to low? What cable version are you using? OpenPort 1.0? OpenPort 1.2?

Thats actually a little high.

I think the message just means that you are outside the voltage "window" for safe reliable flashing.

also, I was trying to setup my new 1.3M, butI can't seem to find the drivers. Does it not work with the drivers for the 1.0??

Yes. The program verified that the voltage is between the chip specs of 11.4 and 12.6V. It says it is low when it is out of range (I am fixing that right now). The 12.56 volts you see is unusually high, but the program should allow that (unless you meant 12.65V).

You should be able to just run EcuFlash 1.26, which installs the drivers, then plug the 1.3M cable in.

here is the log. we dumped the rom, then tried to flash another rom.

Its wierd. I install 1.26, and plug the cable in, then it asks me to install the cabel. I say install automatically, and it finds the correct drivers by itself. Installs. But it never installs a vertual serial port at all. If I plug the 1.3M in after that, no errors come up. Openport 1.3M pops up in the lower right as if it is installed and working correctly, but there is never a com port created in the ports section of device manager, ecuexplorer, ecuflash, etc.

I tried this on two computers, each of which had the same exact result. I then reverted back to the 1.0 cable and got the voltage errors shown below. Does it have something to do with using the 1.0 with drivers and software for the 1.3M??

Any ideas??

ok so 1.3M doesn't add a port, I get it.

but that still doesn't explain why I couldn't flash via my 1.0 cable??

The 1.3M does not use the virtual COM port driver so you shouldn't expect to see a port, but the 1.0 should have one. The new install makes sure you have VCP for 1.0/1.2 and the other driver for the 1.3M. When you plug the 1.0 in, do you see a VCP? Also, the 1.0 has an unswitchable programming voltage, so it should always be on. It's wierd that the kernel is reporting that there is a low voltage...


If you REALLY want to use the OP1.3M as a com port (it won't be able to do Mitsubishi stuff while you are in VCP mode), you can update to the driver package I have in this zip file. When you want to use it as a Mitsu cable again, you will have to switch the drivers back to the ones in the EcuFlash\drivers directory.

well id my 1.0 broken then?? It seems to be sending the correct voltage as in the log it does read the correct voltage. It then starts to buffer, then rads the voltage again and decides its low.

Do you have a voltmeter? perhaps you can tap into the reflash connector + ground with your leads and see what is actually happening to the voltage...
