when can we really expect a competitve open-source solution to the DBW car tuning problem?
when do you guys forsee a day when somebody with a tactrix cable can download a community stage 2 map and flash it the day they get the cable?
I see tons of progress, but I do not know how far along the path to success we are.

I don't know what you mean by unrealistic, I think you are being a little pessimistic...

We already have a solution to uploading and downloading that works.
We already have several solutions to editing maps.

The only thing we lack from your question is a set of "off the shelf maps".

I don't think this group will ever dumb themselves down to producing a stage based product like the AP if thats what you are looking for.

We are here because we are interested in custom tuning our own cars, not because we want a cheap reflash. Hopefully everyone will share their solutions amongst the group as to what works and what doesn't. After all that is the spirit of open source in the first place.

That sharing will allow others to obtain a starting point for their own tune.

I have to agree here! OTS is not the way to go when you can create a custom tune for your car, your location ect.

I do understand your point tho, there are alot of people that A.> shouldn't be tunning their cars or B.> won't take the time to learn how to!
