After tapping an indicating LED to the EGR solenoid pin on respective ecu connector I discovered this concerning open/closed loop and EGR activity:
EGR maintains (I think normal) operation while in open loop. Not sure if it works exactly the same but the EGR system is functional in open loop nonetheless.
This was discovered simply by flashing the O/C loop load breach to 30% in the #1 map only. All three other maps stock (i.e., O/C loop 2, O/C loop throttle 1 and 2)
Also, an easy way to kick the car out of the inefficient heatsoaking catalytic O2 closed loop operation altogether is simply by setting the "MIN TEMP FOR CLOSED LOOP" to a temp beyond, hopefully, capable of reaching, (i.e. 200°C).
Another note on spark advance while leaning towards efficiency (15.2 - 15.5 AFR) that is the timing needs to advance 1, perhaps 2° (not sure exactly how much) to offset the slower diluted burn in order to maintain correct position of peak pressure angle. Otherwise any benefits by running leaner will be negated by PPP being too late, if not worse.
