JDM ECU and reflash learning time !!!

Postby nabilsx » Thu Feb 21, 2008 11:51 pm

Hi guys,

car is 2004 WRX hatchback with a 2003 JDM sti complete swap including everything even the DCCD.
ECU is 22611-AH581, yesterday I modified the boost map and reflashed the new file to the car, before I did that, I removed the manual boost controller and the boost cut defender and wired everything back to stock. well I reflashed and drove the car, nothing did really happen except that boost went from 1.3bar (using MBC) to 0.8bar, on the map it should be higher than that.
Anyway my friend is a mechanic who knows about JDM sti's, told me that I will have to wait some time before the mods would take place, like at least 2hrs or so. I drove the car at the 0.3bar for some time (fast learning technique) I saw the IAM go from 8 to 16, but boost was not affected, anyway I will try today and see when will it take place, but my question is HOW COME? and is there a way to fool the ECU and make it accept the new changes right away?

regards
Nabil

You are probably missing the restrictor which is supposed to be in the small hose running from the nipple on the turbine outlet to a "T" fitting. Without that restrictor, your boost will be limited to wastegate spring pressure, which is usually in the range 0.6 to 0.7 bar.
