Evo- I can write but not read.

Postby burgers » Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:41 pm

It's been absolutely ages since i needed to read from my ECU, I just tried to do this but a windows box with read and cancel just stayed on the screen for about 5 mins, until I got fed up and canceled it. I thought I'd try to write to the ECU and as usual it did this with no problems.

All this was on my 2001 Evo 7. I tried reading with the engine running as well, still no good. Very odd, write is always Ok, Cable is about 18 months old.

I'm sure you need to click on read or ok, just to confirm that you wanted to read the ecu.

The only options are read, which is grayed out and cancel. Tried on another car today same thing. Doesn't even get to send init codes or anything. Have tried with 1.34 and 1.29a versions 2 diffrent PCs and 2 car. I think my cable might be buggered, but funny ( and good) that I can write and log.

Very strange

Might be worth reinstalling the drives just incase there is a slight issue there somewhere, although I would expect it not to write either.

Worth a go though.

I'll redo the drivers, but as it's on 2 PCs I'm not to hopeful.

Now I've found something really odd. Checking the connectors over I pulled the shrink to sleeving down on the black wires next to the white connector, two of the wire are just short bits that are not connected to anything ! WTF is that about ? Are all three cables only needed for Scoobies or is my cable faulty?
