Back again, 2008 STi and a couple questions

Hello again, its been a couple years since Ive been on the site.

With that said, my story is a bit complex and the search engine for the site is a little hard to use.

I used to have an 05 Legacy GT (USDM) that I used openecu (or is it ecu explorer?) to just log what my car was doing. I have a tatrix cable (now probably 2 years old) that I used without problem.

Now for my questions.
1) Can I download the newest software to just log what my ECU is doing in my new 2008 STi?
2) If so, can I use the same cable to do so?

I understand that the 08 has something to do with CAN which (from what I know at least) links all of the computers together. I don't know if the cable I have will work seeing as I probably dont have the most up to date version. This is why Im asking.

Also, I have no desire to tune my car, I just want to know what its doing.

If the cable worked with your 2005 Legacy GT, then it will work with your 2008 STI, at least for logging. You can't log the two extended parameters, IAM and load, though.
