Remote area - 87 octane tune

I have a wrx with the tactrix cable and a friend of mine has an 06 ftx at. He lives in a very remote location and the only gas station within 200km only has 87 octane. He realizes it is a poor choice in vehicle for the area but loves his FXT and octane boost doesnt live up to its claims.

Has anyone found a tune or know what values would be best to change to down tune his FXT for 87 octane. I know this sounds funny but it is his best option for using that fuel with his car. He knows he will lose power but want his car to run better. Thanks in advance if anyone can help or has experience doing this.... or recomendation not to do this.

Lower the boost, richen the a/f and adjust timing to where knock isn't present.

After I make some adjustment and do some logging to determine I have a good tune, Is there any bad effects that the 87 octane may have on the engine or is it only a matter of matching the tune with the octane?

If you keep the boost low and keep knock away you'll be fine.
