WRX and STI ecu's

Arethe 2006 WRX and STI ecu's the same? Meaning, if a friend was going to swap in an STI longblock into his WRX, would he also have to swap out the ecu? Which wouldn't be a problem because he also getting the ecu but then there are harness and ecu pinout issues I would imagine... anyone know for sure?

I think the ECU and harnessl need to stay together if you want it to just plug in.
