2006 ED WRX Definitions

Last night I was able to read the ECU from a EDM WRX (2.5 L) but it came out as gibberish rom.

I need the defnitions. Do you guys have it?

Is your ROM listed at http://www.enginuity.org/Documentation/SupportedECUs? If so, then use Enginuity. If not, post a copy of it at http://www.enginuity.org/viewforum.php?f=8.

oh yes it is supported by Engunity. But is it safe to use Enginuity to edit the rom image and use OpenECU to flash that into the ecu? I suppose OpenECU can read and write ecus, but the rom image cannot be understood.

It doesn't matter whether or not Ecuflash has the maps correctly defined or not. You can flash with Ecuflash without modifying the tables in Ecuflash. You just have to make sure the .xml file corresponding to your cal id (ecuflash\rommetadata directory) has the correct flashmethod tag. It doesn't need to have any table definitions at all. For the 32bit ecus, use sti04 for 512kb rom and sti05 for a 1mb rom.

ok that's a relief. now I wish i studied c+c instead of genetics. just for yje fun of it, i located the definition for EDM 06 WRX A8DH200Y in enguinity and tried (unsuccessfully) to modify it into something that ecuflash can understand.

That's a waste of time. You don't need to do that for flashing. Use Enginuity for tuning and Ecuflash for flashing.
