n00b - what do the maps mean

Postby BoxerFan » Mon Mar 26, 2007 5:09 am

Hi folks, I just managed to pull my ROM over the weekend. Looking at the ROM, there are many similar maps -- eg. boost target A,B,C,D.

What are maps A,B,C,D for? Different operating situations or different setup (eg MT vs AT)?

Can someone point me to the right direction (or place to read up more)?

Some of the multiple maps are AT verses MT. I'm in the process of removing half of the transmission specific maps from Enginuity's definitions since the 32bit roms are transmission specific. That is, if it is a AT rom, I remove all the MT tables and vice versa. There will still be some multiple tables, though. The remaining of these rely on a map ratio that can range from 0 to 1. The two separate map targets are added together with a map ratio multiplier being (1 - map ratio) for one map and simply the map ratio for the other. So, if the map ratio is 0 or 1, one of the map's target will be multiplied by zero, so will be effectively eliminated from the equation. Although the value could be between 0 and 1, I suspect it is either 0 or 1 and not between on most models. I'll add the map ratio to a future logger update so users can see which map is being utilized.

Have noticed that my car's boost map A highest is 1.68 bar, and boost map B highest is 2.01bar. Map C is same as map A, map D is the same as map B.

Does this mean that maps can be viewed as follows?
A - AT failsafe
B- AT normal
C - MT failsafe
D - MT normal

Or is it the other way around A,B (MT) and C,D (AT)?

Comments appreciated.
