04 WRX stage 1 ROM

I have a 04 WRX USDM. I read somewhere that a stage 1 map is pretty good to put ona bone stock WRX as it yeilds some HP and cleans up the fuel so I am not sunning so rich and in the process eliminating the little bit of black that forms on the tail pipe.

Is this true and where do I get a stage 1 ROM?

Ok... I connected to my ECU for the first time with my new cable and downloaded and saved the ROM from the ECU.

This is it... I am supposing this is a good thing to hold onto, and keep a backup copy of.

Looking at this though I am realizing I could use some lessons because I cannot afford to blow up my motor. So until I can learn to tweak I am just going to log and read. Unless someone can help with the notorious stage 1... or would someone like a student to pass their knowledge onto?

My buddy sent me a stage 1 rom, and I was able to flash it in this weekend. WOW what a difference!
