Yep, you have two choices..
1 is to disable the Immobilizer check in the ECU
2 is to just update the Immobilizer code in your new ECU for the old ECU's value.
The latter is preferrable as it doesnt disable a very useful security feature.
WHen you open ECUFlash, you'll have to go into options and then set USER LEVEL to Developer (or advanced)
Close the app and re-open it with your rom, under MISC you should see Immobilizer.. Just update it there.
Also, there are some differences in the different year and market Evo8's an 05 USDM ECU ROM for example doesn't have an Intercooler sprayer, but thats just a specific example. As far as I know the ECU's themselves interchange, but some of the roms may not.
Oh and the next question is probably going to be "I Can't read the ECU" Because its locked. Do a search for ECU Unlocker.
I'm not sure how much you paid for the ECU, but someone elses tune has very little added value, as your much better off building a new tune from your original rom, and putting it on your new ECU, now you can switch between the two with the proper Rom for your car.
Also, some years have the VIN# embedded in the Rom
BTW, some of this info doesn't apply to you as the two ECU's are from the same model Evo8, I wanted to include it for someone who searches here since I don't contribute this sort of info often on this forum.
