JECS or Denso can anybody identify from photo's?

This ECU is from my 2000 Outback wgn I assumed it would be a JECS because its pre-'01 can anybody determine this for certain. If its JECS I might as well get the ELMscan 5 and be happy with MIL reset, diagnostic, etc. But if reflashing is possible I'll need to get different hardware mongoose, tactrix etc. Thanks for any help identifing this ecu.
