Installing 1.29 was a HUGE mistake! 1.29 doesnt work at all?

Postby disque71 » Sun Nov 12, 2006 11:19 am

I installed 1.29 for a vf39 install this weekend. Well, it wont reconize any interface! Have worked with ECUFlash many many time before, i know what I am doing. Installing 1.29 has also prevented me from going back to 1.28. When I uninstal 1.29 and try to reinstall 1.28, it dumps an error whenever I try to load the program?! WTF.

Anyone have this issue?

Upgrade worked perfectly for me. Did you uninstall the old drivers from the 3 Add/Remove Programs entries and then reinstall them from the driver directory?

1.29 WAS working perfectly for me until this morning, it stopped recognising the cable and still won't. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, no good.

I can back out to the 1.28 drivers and get ecuexplorer working however a re-install of 1.28 won't run..!!

Damn!

Update..

I have one Subaru cable working fine with 1.29, and two Mitsu cables no problems..

My other Subie cable is recognised as a Openport 1.20 ISO Interface however it won't install despite pointing it to the ECuflash drivers folder..

Has anyone else had this issue and how the hell do I fix it, I am over uninstalling and installing software...

uninstall everything, old software and drivers
restart
reinstall 1.29
plug in cable
when prompted, point windows towards drivers folder(i think this happens twice[2drivers])

Tried that, I've even gone as far as installing a clean version of XP, still no joy.

It's bizarre, the system sees it as an Openport 1.2 cable but just won't install the drivers, and if I uninstall 1.29 and reinstall 1.28 then 1.28 won't run even on the brand new XP system.

I am trying to borrow another laptop in case it's something weird with mine, given that I've been running with no probs for months before this it's a bit frustrating..

Well after bucketloads of stuffing around it looks like I had two cables crap out on me at the same time which is why it was so hard to diagnose what was going on.

just in case, make sure the metal sheathing inside the cable, where it goes into the plastic housing, is not exposed... i had to take apart the housing a bit and tape up the cable...

Yeah had that with my remaining cable, have checked one of the two non-working and it was okay, will have a look at the other.
