Can you post a generalised log anf a 3 gear log from low rpm @ wot to redline if possible.

Why do oyu have a boost controller?

Also, a bigger TMIC does not mean it will work better. The bigger, the more heat soak it get. Only good for high speed.

A FMIC would be better, but greater boost drop, but cooler charge.

Lol:)

Use Ecuexplorer. Try to get the IAM and engine load in the log too.

You will need to enable other stuff. Go AIM and I will let you know or check the sti forum for a sample log to see what you need to be enable.

TMIC is know for high speed efficiency. I guess you were sold on the ads :)

Yes! Driving log around anywhere and another log of a 3 gear log.

If you want to post 2,3,4 and even 5gear logs, so be it. That would be better :)

Remember from low rpm and got WOT immediately from low rpm. 1500 :)

A 4gear log would be important to.

Also, when you do the city log, put in some spirited driving. That is, 1,2,3,4 gear pullslike @ a race :)

Hi Sith

I believe you have the same car as me, STI7 non-twin scroll.
For logging I have normally done 4th gear runs from as low revs as possible up to as close to redline as possible. You may need to do a few at various throttle openings to get a reasonable coverage of the rpm/load sites within the fuel and ignition maps. I usually log (as a minimum) engine speed, engine load and afr for tuning fuel, engine speed, load, timing and knock correction for tuning ignition, engine speed, throttle opening angle, manifold absolute pressure and wastegate duty cycle for tuning boost. You also need to monitor detonation using detcans and/or a knocklite / knocklink.

You need to set AFR using a wideband. Log it in ecuedit along with engine load and rpm and compare to the lo det fuel map before making any adjustments. Work out the difference between the desired afr in the fuel map and the actual afr recorded by the wideband. It is unlikely that the values in the map will be the same as actual. When you know what the differences are you will be able to start making changes to the map.

Also, for safety, before leaning out the fuel I would consider the timing. I think your 91 octane fuel is about the same as the 95 ron stuff we have here in the UK, it is the standard unleaded. If it is then you will need to pull quite a bit of timing from the standard JDM map. These cars are mapped for 100 ron fuel and they run a lot of advance. Your car is likely to detonate using 91 octane fuel even with the rich standard map, it will be more likely to do so if you lean out the fuelling.

For boost, you may again be limited by the octane of the fuel as to what boost level you can run without detonation and you may not be able to increase the standard boost which already goes to almost 1.3 bar (19 psi).

Post back from the dead.. sorry for the thread abandon, some stuff came up ie: bad IC and some idiot hit me from behind in stop and go traffic.. anyway, i hope you guys dont mind still helping me..
to recap my car is a 01 rs with a version 7 motor and tranny(single scroll and non-dccd) with a SPT(bosal) catback and stock dp with an AH482 ecu.. rom A4SDA01B and it turns out my SSAC IC was leaking inside the fins...badly.. so for the moment i have a spare wrx IC on it..i did a couple of logs today and the car is running really well.. i want it better! Huge thank you to west_minist and swifty you guys have offered great info..i am ordering a wideband and knock detection unit asap.. do you guys have opinions on where my money is well spent? detcan/knocklite/knocklink which is best and anything else i should get in addition?

lastly should i start posting my logs or wait til i get the addon equipment?

thanks again west_minist and swifty! how have your v7 tunes come along?

Sith:

I taking a break now, as you can see now on www.socob.bb

I need to recert on new Cisco Certs and also getting into ems for non Subaru stuff. A hectic life for a Network Engineer in possibly changing careers.

I can help you, including swifty. We are here for that.

You can either start a new thread here or over at www.socob.bb and post back the results here. Either way is fine and it would be good for openecu new members to see what is going on.

For me and maybe a few others, it may be difficult monitoring many post, but if you want, create a project thread either place and post your stuf and tuning.

Normally from remote tuning, a real custom tune, takes a few rom revisions, up to 8-13, over a couple of weeks, depending on your time. Some tunes only take 2 revision.

Again, start a thread at either site, post some logs, 3 and 4 gears, and a general and spirited logs.

All the best.

Beauty! thanks for another great reply.. i'm going to register and read through the socob.bb site, i didnt even know it existed.. but i'm going to create a project thread here, and post all my data.. what is it you meant by 8-13 rom revisions.. ie: change some maps and reflash 8-13 times? and your going to help me with this? for free? thanks again.. i'm starting a thread now.

No prob. A great help to others.

What I mean, depending on the state of the car or needs, sometimes 8-13 reflashes is needed.

That my personal believe :)
