He should have them by now, unless SkippyMail (Australia Post) stuffed up or something.. Maybe the Kangaroo drowned in the ocean :)

If I am correct, many went that way with out any results.

Such collectable items :)

im curious,

how are people even getting the roms they are dissembling??

where are peoples efforts focussing?? are we decoding roms we are yet to actually have reflashing software for, or are we looking at the ecuflash code and trying to adapt it to work for JECS roms??

in terms of flashing the eprom what exactly are the main differences between the denso and unisia?? isnt the first step getting a relashing program that works with openport cables..... or can we do this already??

and then work on dissembling the raw bin or hex files??

The JECS Unasia ECUs is not built like the Densos.
Whats missing is finding where in RAM we should upload our 'kernel'.
Then someone have to write that kernel from scratch.
hm, does anyone know of a compiler for the M32 CPU?

how are people actually connecting to the ecu???

we all have openport cables, some people are dissembling the hardware of the ecu but how are people connecting

The protocol, SSM is somewhat documented on this forum. http://forums.openecu.org/download.php?id=70
Yes, we need software that speaks enough SSM to upload the kernel into the JECS too.

ok,

so both unisia and denso ecu's speak the same subaru select protocol?? if so what aspects of ecuflash's algorithm are specific to the denso's??

wat exactly do you mean locate the kernel??

Yes, all Subaru ECUs speak SSM.

We have to upload code (the 'kernel') into the ECU and then execute it.
To get the ECU to execute the code, it must be uploaded at the right address.
Edit: It might be some code protections to bypass too.

hehe, its late here so my answers are a bit short :D

i appreciate the tech help, my experience in this area of electronics is limited.

when you say we have to upload a kernel into the ecu ram....... id better ask wat is the kernel.

secondly, i now nderstand that this kernel has to be installed into the ecu and then executed by the ecu which then allows wat exactly??

wat are the steps in flashing programs algorithms??

When doing a ECU 'dump': The 'kernel' is responsible of reading the ECU RAM/ROM content and send it over the cable to the PC.

If you are uploading changes, it is responsible for reading the changes from the cable and write them into ECU RAM/ROM.

do you know the algorithm currently used by ecuflash to do this??

i understand the kernel, sorry terminology issue there. what im curious about is algorithm used by ecuflash in the flashing process

whether the kernel on the ecu is altered or whether it is accessed for i/o operations

where exactly are we at with this and wat programs or structures are people using when they've begun accessing the ecu's kernel

hehe, many questions there.
I dont have it all figured out, and there been over 10 years since I did some programming..
And no, I have not looked at colbys Denso kernels,..
Maybe these threads can answer some of youre questions?:

has anyone tried changing there ecu to a new version ecu so they can flash........ im assuming wiring/ sensor issues anyone know what they'd be??

I posted a similar question on nasioc... but it was a question on changing in a 02+ WRX ecu into a 99+ RS.

Im not down with the differences in the RS liberty with the differing world wide markets but id assume that an older model impreza WRX would be more closely matched to the newer impreza WRX.

does however seem like a lot of work and matching input (sensors) and outputs, might be pretty hard.

does anyone know the exact differences in the electrical systems.... becuase by some luck they may be really similar.....
