cant read thr rom off a jdm 2001 forester sti

i cant read the rom off my friend's 2001 jdm forester sti. i have tried two of them so far and nothing from them using ecuflash and ecuexplorer.

can anyone help me.

Did you push in the clutch when reading or writing?

Did you connect all the connectors?

no clutcch, they were both automatic.

i did connect all the connectors, even tried once without the white one but nothing worked.

funny enough, the car cycles the fans so i figured it would work.

Although Denso ECUs were adopted in bugeye WRXs in 2001, it's very possible the 2001 Forester STi was still using a Unisia JECS ECU. You might wish to physically examine the ECU to determine this for sure.

Ok. I have this same problem on a 2004/2005 model.

Its a DBW.

this is the error i got when i tried ecuexplorer (as ecuflash doesn't have a link for 2001 forester, just the 2004 up), i hope it helps

AG380 is JECS ecu, cant read with current tools

well i have access to a spare ecu for the forester sti. i would donate it to you ppl if that would help you to get into it so we can tune them.
