Another newb question about hex data

Postby LiquidForce » Sun Oct 30, 2005 9:06 am

I just recently received my cable and was able to dump an image of my ecu. I have just been going through the offsets from this post http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?t=126 and I have a few questions on how to derive a value.

I was able to calculate the Rev Limit on/off values by getting the data at 298B4-298B7 with the value 9400-9200

9400 = 37888 * .1953125 = 7400
9200 = 37376 * .1953125 = 7300

I am trying to calculate the Knock Detection RPM Range from the offset at 2A238-2A235 with the value 1400-1500-7A00-7C00. I don't understand which values to use because there is twice as much data in that range than there was in the Rev Limit.

Do I use 1400 or the 1500 for the Knock Detection RPM starting point and do I use 7A00 or 7C00 for the end point?

1400 = 5120 * .1953125 = 1000
1500 = 5376 * .1953125 = 1050

7A00 = 31232 * .1953125 = 6100
7C00 = 31744 * .1953125 = 6200

I am also wondering if anyone has raised the upper limit on the Knock detection. I am curious to see how much if any of the noise after that point gets picked up as knock. It would be nice if I could raise it to about 6800 which is the point that I shift at when I am at the drag strip.

There are 4 values as it needs to have an hysteresis to correclty work ;)

So, It should start at 1050 and stop at 6200. When RPM is > 6200, it wait to go <6100 to turn back it on, same for the lower limit.
