hi guys,
i have 2 Qs..

1st: can i use the ecuflash in a evo6 rs for a reflash?
and
2nd: from where i can buy this cable i need??? i think that the evo6 has only the obd2 port and not the second smaller one i'm seen in the fotos for the 7-8-9 evos.. but i might be wrong...

i'm asking because i cant connect to my car any of my obd2 loggers (pocketloger, auterra) because it seems that there is something different in the ecu interface compared to the other newer evos in witch i can connect pretty easy... (the same thing happens if i try to connect them to a subaru gt..)
the only thing that connects to the evo 6 in order to read the cel codes and for general diagnostics is the official mitsubishi dealers MUT-II scan tool as they call it...

i hope that you can help me 'cause i'm pretty exited with the reflash idea!

thank you all in advance!

E5/6 does have the second init connector but the E4 doesn't.

E5/6 reflash kernel isn't ready yet but hopefully will be done soon.

E5/6 uses a different MCu to E7/8 which may explain why you are having problems with your OBDII loggers.

Where exactly is the second "reflash" connector port for evo 6? When I look under the steering wheel dashboard, I'm only seeing the OBD-II port.

I too was unable to download the stock ROM and received the following error:

"H8/500 processors are not yet supported!"

Is this a problem with the software or the 1.3M Cable? It's an Evo 6 RSII.

if it still uses a stock mitsubishi ecu and you are talking about evoscan then yes.

GTO I'm afraid that neither the E6 GSR or E6 RS2 (my model) have the second re-flash socket.
I posted the following in another thread. I hope you can help...

Not sure if this is the correct thread but here goes...
I am trying to initialize my Evo 6 RS2 ECU with the Tactrix OpenPort 1.3M cable.

I read this in another thread. Not sure if it also applies to my problem...
cboles wrote:...The new Mitsubishi cable needs and uses these drivers, (sic~ FT2DXX drivers/DLL) but since
there is no other software which works with that cable yet, there are no legacy support issues.

Unlike the Evo 7-9 models, the Evo 6 RS2 has no additional socket alongside the
OBDII port under the dashboard.

I'm looking for an alternative connector or wire that can be used on the
1999-2000 Evo 6 RS2s (with Immobilizer) for initialization to reflash the ECU.

I know that the Evo 6 software is still a work-in-progress... but this seems
to be more of a hardware issue that will have to be addressed anyway.

At the moment any attempt to initialize results in this error message...
"H8/500 processors are not yet supported!"

Any help or advice appreciated.

I don't think there is one.

What makes you think it's a hardware issue ?

Colby hasn't written the software for these processors yet, and that is the sole explanation for why it doesn't work.

YP on this forum has made a little app to dump rom content, based on a 1.2 tactrix cable with some modifications, but software is not published :(

Thanks for your reply. Any idea when the Evo 6 version will be available?

Do I have to buy another cable for the E6 version, or will the v1.3 cable be able to handle initialization and re-flashing without the extra socket?

Well, let him keep it to himself then, the hardware modification is btw most likely a change of pin for programming voltage in the OBDII-connector.

Judging from the work Colby has done sofar, I am quite confident that it shouldn't be any problem for him implementing EVO 5/6 in EcuFlash.
He recently wrote that he had been busy lately with other customers projects, but that he will soon be able to continue with EcuFlash.
