Hello from a V owner with a few ECU's

Hi,

Great project - I can't wait to get started and maybe be able to contribute someday.

Anyway, I currently run a V, and have at my disposal a VI ECU from Japan, with 180kmh limiter, a V ECU without the limiter (European I presume), and a RA VI ECU 'Fast Road' - I'm hoping to be able to play about with the Jap ECU, see what can be done, using the others for comparison.

I've ordered my cable from Tactrix - I had tried to connect using an OBD-II interface (OBD-DIAGĀ® 2055 Interface) but had no joy. It seems the V is not OBD compliant.

So, until the Tactrix cables arrive, is there anything I should be reading up on or any other information I need to know?

THANKS

(ON or ON-U is good too)

has your cable arrived yet? I'd like to see some evo5 roms on here.

Another problem arises. AFAIK there's no additional re-flash plug in the E5 either...
GTODesign wrote:E5/6 does have the second init connector but the E4 doesn't.
E5/6 uses a different MCu to E7/8 which may explain why you are having problems with your OBDII loggers.

GTO I'm afraid that neither the E6 GSR or E6 RS2 (my model) have the second re-flash socket.

I am trying to initialize my Evo 6 RS2 ECU with the Tactrix OpenPort 1.3M cable.

I read this in another thread. Not sure if it also applies to my problem...
cboles wrote:...The new Mitsubishi cable needs and uses these drivers, (sic~ FT2DXX drivers/DLL) but since
there is no other software which works with that cable yet, there are no legacy support issues.

Unlike the Evo 7-9 models, the Evo 6 RS2 has no additional socket alongside the
OBDII port under the dashboard.

I'm looking for an alternative connector or wire that can be used on the
1999-2000 Evo 6 RS2s (with Immobilizer) for initialization to reflash the ECU.

I know that the Evo 6 software is still a work-in-progress... but this seems
to be more of a hardware issue that will have to be addressed anyway.

At the moment any attempt to initialize results in this error message...
"H8/500 processors are not yet supported!"

Any help or advice appreciated.

To be honest from what Ive read on another thread, Colby tried and I dont think he could get it to work, maybe he aint got the time or resourses to develop the kernel, I dont know but maybe he could tell us the situation on this instead of people just guessing all the time, me included, a statement stating if he is still working on this or not would be greatly appreciated from me anyway,
I dont mean to put the pressure on as I know this man has done great things to allow people to access and update the ECU software in their cars.

it wasn't speculation, that was the case.. Colby is still working on it. I know he has been working on a problematic subaru kernal as of late. He will get to doing it, he knows how much everybody is keen for it.

Good stuff thanks for that.
