The AFM's are scaled differently, a bit of a hassle to get calibrated. I would check ebay or other sites and try to get an Evo8 sensor. You do have other options to run in place of the sensor, there is some development directly in the ECU to convert to speed density with a JDM MAP sensor (or GM 3 bar sensor) or you can use a piggyback device and a GM or Ford MAF sensor in a blowthrough configuration (ECU+ or MAFT+ or MaftPro are a few examples)

Unfortunately you'll have to start with a stock Evo8 sensor to be certain everything works right, so once you get that far, you might as well keep it.

Thanks for the info Malibujack, so you're confirming my doubt that a evo4 AFM will not work with the evo8 ecu swap.

The Evo 8 and 2G DSM AFM are the same if you can get one. They should be on any DSM board for around $20-40.
