Guys, I really appreciate your work on Openecu. It is a great help for me in Australia. I have recently pulled the ROMs out of a JDM EVO VIIIMR (Tomei badged ECU )and a JDM EVO VII. I am having trouble geting it to read via any of the XML files I have ( topped up by the files found on this site). Can anybody help ?

Also being fairly new to this stuff, can anyone explain the xml hierachy, and how the inheritance tree works. Or point me to a thread ?

Cheers Mike

For a quick start, download the xml definition I have attached in your
\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo directory.
You should be able to see the fuel maps, ignition, boost desired engine load and wastegate maps correctly. There is one more pair of boost desired engine load and wastegate duty maps (#4) but I am trying to add it to the def.

Ok, the def should now be a lot better.
I still have doubts on the boost limit. Rev limit is ok. WG duties ok, Boost desired engine loads ok. Fuel maps ok.
Scalings are not there, but it shouldn't matter much for now.

There is alot of timing run high in the load and rpm ranges.....any idea what sort of mods the car had that this was installed on?

has anyone worked out if the load scaling max's at 260 or 300?

Cheers

Its just a generic tune released and sold by Tomei ( Japanese tuning company). The Japanese have very hi octane fuel compared to our 98 RON fuel in Australia. The evo just had exhaust and airbox mods

On 98/99 RON (Shell V-power) I run similar timing in the 260 column as the Tomei ECU shown, so it isn't that advanced. I do run a IX though with O2 housing, exhaust, Walbro and airbox mod, and it is a little cooler in the UK than it is in Australia. I run 1.7 bar from 2500-6000 RPM, 1.4 bar at 7500. Charge temps usually below 40C as measured by the temp sensor in the inlet manifold.

Knock sums are 3 or below on a hard drive on our warmest days. If I increase the timing by 1 degree the knock counts go up to about 5 or 6 and the timing is just pulled out again. AFR is 11.5 on full load in 4th gear from 3500-7500 RPM.

With 10% methanol in the fuel tank and raised fuel pressure I could run 2 bar, and add 2 or 3 degrees timing to the 98/99 map. However, I don't trust the standard conrods at 2 bar as everyone says they are the weak point on our engines.
