Just wondering if there is a max number of flashes allowed and if so are there any tell-tale signs that your ECU is about to die?

Yes 100/150 in theory :D but much of "tuner" exceed this limit

The datasheets for the flash memory say they are good to 100, but I've never heard of anyone blowing an ECU due to over flashing.

freon“s post is correct. the sheets say 100.

i have seen a ecu which has been programmed around 300times. this one have some problems with the internal flash.

if i want to reprogram it, sometimes some "segements" could not written to the ecu. i have to flash the segment 3 or 4 times.

100 times?

Hell, I've flashed about 1000 times to my ECU, no problems - except once I was in a hurry and started my car instead of key-on to ignition  (I have my clutch position switch removed from bracket so it will start without clutch)

Good thing I didn't press "OK"

It would have flashed, ecuflash will turn the car off.
