Hi guys,

Had an Impreza UK300 'bugeye' special edition in the other day. The Tactrix cable wouldn't read the ecu, but should it ?

The only strange thing is that this car had a Prodrive GEMS daughterboard installed inside the ECU. All this does is fools the map sensor so that you can run higher boost for a time period, but wondered if it would prevent the Tactrix cable\ECUFlash reading the ecu.

Should we be able to tune this car ?

If it's a special, it's probably 'locked', i.e., the handshake protocol might have been modified. If that is the case, the Tactrix setup will not work.

Yes you should be able to map it, the MY01/02 PPP board only modifies the MAP and EGT signals.

If you couldn't read the ECU perhaps it already had an Ecutek ROM on it?

You are spot on about the PPP board mate, just MAP and EGT.

Maybe I will try again with the Tactrix lead, I know connection is sometimes 'shakey'.

If it's locked then I guess it could be ECUTEK'd.

Had the car in again today, but couldn't connect at all. The ecu is a V3, isn't that off of the classic shape STis ? Very odd.
