Hi, I got a Legacy GT 05 MT.

I will like to change my mapping.. I already have try something, but I am not sure if its good..

I will like to have your opinion.. or will like to find something that will be good for my setup..

I have a complet exhaust on the car, 3", without any Cat on the line.. So, Uppippe no cat, DP no cat, and straigh to the back..
In the summer, I have a Typhoon air filter.. thats about it..
So, I am looking for something, like a stage 2..

Here is my stock map, and a mapping that my friend did for me last year.. Will like to have your opinion please.. because, this week, we undo the exhaust, and we found that the valve was a bit too much white "too lean" maybe.. Don't want to take any more risk..

I need a disclaimer: I am pretty new to this stuff, so I'm posting because I want to learn stuff from the discussion, not because I have stuff to teach.

In your timing advance table, it looks like you've added 1-3 degrees only to the cells that were non-zero in the stock table. This leaves an abrupt edge between the zero and non-zero cells. For example, look at the cell at 4000rpm and 1.4 g/rev: it has a value of 4.92, but the cells below or the left have 0. Why not add a bit of timing to the currently-zero cells, to make a smoother transition?

You've also got a small island of cells with 10.55 degrees, around 3000rpm and 0.4 g/rev. Were these added by mistake, or is there a reason for them?

The turbo dynamics proportional gain changes don't make sense to me. I have not tuned Subaru turbo dynamics but I am familiar with PID systems in general and I strongly suspect that you should have zero correction at zero boost error, positive correction at positive error, and negative correction at negative error. If I'm wrong about that, I hope someone can explain why, because your settings make no sense to me. Have you logged boost error vs. RPM for abrupt throttle changes?

I notice you are still using the stock OL/CL transition delays. Have you considered using 0 delays?

Like I said, its not me that did that map.. I really dont know anything about mapping.. that is why, I ask help to see if it was good or not..

If I should keep it that way or not.. At this moment, I did remove it from the car.. I did run it, for about 1 year.. .. but a lot more agressive then the Stage 1 of Cobb.. and when I install the exhaust, we look at the Valve, and they was white a bit.. .so, I remove the mapping, because, maybe I was a bit lean ?

The fuel tables are the same in both ROMs, as are MAF scaling and fuel injector flow settings. If you're lean with one you'll be lean with the other as well. The timing in the modified map has been increased across the board, and you're also running more boost everywhere. The shape of the boost table looks odd to me. Hopefully someone more experienced can offer a 2nd opinion though.

There are some suspicious issues with the modified map, which I mentioned earlier. Were I in your place I'd run the stock map, and have your 'tuner' explain those issues with the modified map. But first, in order to avoid getting bullshittted, consider learning enough about tuning to look at the ROMs yourself and at least get a rough idea about what the differences are. It'll take a while, but it's really not rocket science.

Wow. The timing is bad. The island of timing between 2800 and 3200 and less than 0.60 g/rev is extremely bad. The biggest problem with this island is that knock listening starts at 0.60 g/rev. That means any knock that you may have had due to this island would be ignored by the ecu. It's also a range where we drive in all the time. Cruising on the freeway in 5th gear, you will be in this range often.

There are other problems too, but the timing is the biggest problem that I see.

MickeyD, can we get your thoughts on the turbo dynamics tables? Those look all wrong to me...

Yes, they are wrong, but it doesn't matter because of the way WGDC is tuned so it really isn't an issue.
