im running a modified sti fuel map on my wrx and the power curve is alot smoother very impressed. you are only able to change the parameters on the wrx fuel map so much. overall the new map is pretty nice

are you logging any of it using a wideband o2?

What are you talking about? You shouldn't just go mucking about with copying tables from one ECU to another. Especially when the two engines are not even close to being the same. If you are trying to make power by the 'lean is mean' theory, you have a nasty surprise waiting for you in the form of melted pistons and damaged cylinder walls.

I'll just tell you the short blocks are the same. the only difference in the motors are the cams, valve train, tuning and some other small differences. an air fuel ratio is an air fuel ratio. thats it the end I'm not leaning it out to the point of knock so dont be so condescending

The turbo is different as well as the injectors. Those small differences you mention (cams, valvetrain, etc) affect the way the burn occurs in the combustion chamber in a not-so-small way. An air fuel ratio is an air fuel ratio indeed, but those numbers in the table don't always match up with reality, so you really need a wideband to verify your changes.

You made a thread proclaiming the fact that your WRX runs great on an STi fuel map. You have no logs, no dyno plots, hell not even a wideband 02 reading to back up your claims. All you have is 'the power curve is alot smoother very impressed'. Wow, great. Now back up your claims with some empirical data or shut up.

I am trying to prevent you from ruining your engine. Go ahead, lean it out. I bet you gained less then 10 HP. It must be worth it, right?

I appreciate your concern, but I do have logs, not posted though. Sorry for the retort, but everyone on these forums mainly nasioc seem to know everything about everything. Yes of course the turbos are different as far as injectors go 550's i think are plenty. The primary fuel map for the base wrx is pig rich i agree leaning out too much = big problems, but the primary map im running with adjusted avcs, boost, wastegate duty cycle, haven't touched timing though, in my opinion is running great. We have logged about 30 runs so far 4.63 g/loads at 16 lbs, the only thing we have seen so far is additional timing being added under loads no knock correction so i think I'm doing ok so far. As for the wide band shame on me im in the process of doing that i have however quit flashing till then because of questions reguarding 07 MAF scaling/closed loop delay issues i have been hearing about. Freon do you know what is up?

Uh, tune with wideband, target a reasonable AFR (like low 11's). I don't know why there would be a problem with the MAF scaling. Last 07 STI I tuned the lowest range (<5 g/s) fuel trim wanted to go very positive (to about +12), but the rest stayed really close to zero. That almost indicates to me the injector latency is too low rather than a problem with MAF scaling. It was very consistent going and staying at +12. I checked the car a week after the tune and it did the same thing. I think I ended up slightly lifting the low end of MAF scaling under 5g/s just so the car would start and idle better right after an ECU reset, but honestly, it isn't a big deal.

I would take this on a case by case basis. I don't know of a general problem with it.

All bets are off with aftermarket intakes. I generally do not recommend aftermarket intakes if you can avoid it.
