help with map info

im new to this site and tuning in general. Ive been reading around and have come across many people talking about certain maps they decided to start with, like: nuke or ev8siv.
My question is why are these maps so popular, are there any pros or cons to each and where can they be obtained
any information or direction to where i could find the information would be very helpful

It may just be because they're the only ones available. Popular is a relative term.
I've never heard of anyone but ev8siv selling Subaru maps. Never heard of nuke. I know Dynoflash sells EVO maps. That's about it.
Personally, I would not use a pre-tuned map at all. Find a local knowledgable tuner who can tune *your* car. Not every car reacts the same to the same tune, even if the mods are very similar or the same.

My map was one of the first done for a 2.5WRX. I recomend using ev8siv's maps, as I use his now on subaru's. My friend that had the 06wrx moved away before we could do much more with it, and the wife took the 05 LGT via divorce. I have been mainly concentrating on my Evo as of late but do plan on getting back into Subarus when my gf gets her new 08wrx this fall.
