Problems connecting to my 07 STI

Postby Eric@AMS » Tue Jul 31, 2007 2:58 pm

We had my 07 flashed and it ran great. the car however popped an up-pipe gasket at a recent track day so we flashed it back to stock and brought it into the dealer to have it warrantied....why not I said, it only had 500 miles on it.

While it was there they reported an overboost condition and reflashed in the stock map.

Now we are unable to connect to the ECU. we have tried several options to see if we can connect and to no avail. We cannot even get it to go into test mode and cycle the fans.

I have tried swapping ECU's with another car here but the Immobilizer is preventing that from happening.

Has anyone here ever had an issue with not being able to connect to the factory ECU after the dealer has been into it?

The only other variable is that we put in an aftermarket head deck since the car has been flashed back to stock... I highly doubt that would have any effect on it though.

Weird. Perhaps try your best to trace the test mode connector? I don't see why it would suddenly stop working. Some cars have a second connector on the passenger side, worth checking for.

Yeah, I went through the connectors on the passenger side for that reason... everything looked all gravy.

I am going to try an Access port tonight to see if that will connect or not. Im not too optimistic.

Perhaps Subaru are getting savvy to all this reflashing stuff and have modified their challenge-response key table for factory reflashes.
If that is the case, then heaven help you, because I can't...

The test connector is one wire that disconects in two places, once under the dash and once in the passenger side, you checked both?

Take the Side with teh Male pin in it with an Ohm meter and see if you get continuity to ground. aka put the positive terminal adapter on the pin and the other on a bolt on the car. if it beeps then its not the ground side of the connector.
