Dyno Run for a stock MY2006 JDM SpecB 6MT LGT ("D"

Dyno Run for a stock MY2006 JDM SpecB 6MT LGT ("D"

Postby zigzagzok » Thu Nov 09, 2006 1:12 am

Just did my maidan dyno

ambient air temp 32 degrees, humidity 43%
dyno was run in the 4th gear (of 6), fuel octane 98;

There are 3 modes in the car; SI-Drive. The dyno chart shows 2 runs i made, the

lower power / torque lines show the car while
in "Intelligent Mode"
The higher power / torque figures are made while the car is in "Sport Mode"
Between the "Sport #" and "Sport" Modes - there are no real differences

Wheel HP figures are a little disappointing i must say (ie rated crank bhp is

280@6400 rpm, rated torque is 343NM@2400 rpm)

Wheel hp is 103.9bhp@5949rpm / 148NM@3333 rpm for intelligent mode

wheel hp is 165.9bhp@5823rpm / 250NM@3498 rpm for sport mode

Image

crank hp is 180.2bhp@6672rpm / 215NM@3333 rpm for "Intelligent" mode

crank hp is 243.9bhp@6741rpm / 337NM@3498 rpm for "Sport" mode

I have also done some data logging via ecuexplorer ; latency is 170ms
This are logged for the run in "Intelligent" mode

am still asking for help to be able to download my rom so that i can start playing with it ;)

Do you have traction control?

This look like gas issues for the sport mode.

What does a STI and wrx do on that dyno?

gas issues?... due to retarding timing?.....
can share a bit more?...

eh i have not had a chance to ask the operator ...

Just only looking at the Dyno and your results, either the Dyno reads low or because of the quality of the Gas, this is the result.

Wow. Those are pretty low numbers, but I'm not familiar with the dyno so maybe it reads low.

Is it possible for you to post a .csv of the datalog?

Is it possible for you to do a road log using ecu explorer? That would be a 3rd gear pull from 2000 to 7000 rpm?

Select engine load FF50B0 as active.
Select manifold relative pressure (corrected) as active.

plus these parameters:

Rpm ,
intake temp,
manifold relative pressure,
knock correction,
ignition timing,
primary wastegate duty,
mass air flow (g/sec)
Engine Load (g)
Throttle position

I am most interested in mass air flow (g/sec) because it would be possible to do a coarse comparison of hp numbers to a 2005 USDM LGT.

I find it odd that the hp numbers are so low given that you have 14 psi of boost all the way to 6500 rpm.

The following hyperlink is a USDM LGT stock datalog for comparison.

Another reason for such a low Dyno could be a failing o2 sensor (s).

I have never view a log on a LGT, but the igntion timing is very low for 15psi.

That timing looks like you are running 23+psi on an STI, except it is high in the tq range.

Can you log the knock correct or the all the Ign stuff?

hi have done the runs ...

basically a midnite run, ambient temp is 28 degrees C
did not find a really long road, so the runs were made in 2nd then transist to 3rd gear
apologise that i cld not find the knock correction value and that i cant use the engine load FF50B0 - it triggers the airbag warning n there were no values (ie '0')
maybe cld enlighten on the comparions? thks!

Thanks for the logs. The FFB050 may only be for 2005 models.

In your CSV files, there is a column labeled engine load but it looks like throttle position. Also, were you limited in parameters that you could log? I noticed that you didn't log primary wastegate duty cycle.

It looks like you're producing a lot of power. I'm no expert, but if you're sucking 230 g/s of air at 6500 rpm, I would say that the engine is producing a lot of power. For comparison, USDM stock engines produce around 191 whp (250 advertised chp) and only flow 200 g/s of air at about 6000 rpm. Maybe there was a problem with the original dyno run?

The one thing that I am disappointed in seeing is that boost is only 6 psi at 3000 rpm. It could be that throttle was not at 100% and the car was in 2nd gear.

If you can't find a long stretch of road, could you datalog in 3rd gear between 1500 rpm and 4500 rpm at WOT? This would really give a good indication of turbo spool up. Thanks!

here it is.. as requested..
feedback appreciated :)

noticed that the USDM LGT 2.5L ignition timing a lot higher .. 20+ degrees advance at WOT @ peak torque - looks like good potential..
my ecu is already pulling timing at WOT/peak torque

One thing that I cannot understand, why is your Ignition so low.

Was the ECU tampered with before?

Can you log the IAM.

You need to get the load variable right.

All us will review and get back.

Can you post your rom?

You should be well over 20degrees, even at max tq.

What gas, spark plugs and so on are you running on?

Can you post a pic to what ECUExplorer detects?

I am wondering if it will detect more ign stuff.

Can you log a/f in AFR?

The Mass air flow compares to other stock and mod STI's.

Lets work on the Initial Advance Multiplier (IAM). Can you try to detect that?

Do you know what compression this engine runs from the manual?

As others stated, it looks over. It could be the Dyno or a slipping clutch, but which may show is bigger dip at max tq.

You have a Gtech Pro?
