What exactly did you have to do to pull the rom?

Just what i've always done.

1. Connect OpenPort 1.2 to car
2. connect green test connectors
3. connect OpenPort 1.2 to laptop (already on)
4. turn car on
5. launch ECU Flash 1.28.716
6. initiate ROM download
7. select "2005-2006 Subaru DBW models" when prompted.
8. ECU download commenced.
9. when it asked for a profile, i selected to create a new profile based on the 06 WRX and saved the file.

that's it. it just worked. nothing out of the ordanary.

i can't really see why... they're practically the same cable.. i'm pretty sure i have a 1.2, but it might be a 1.3.

i'd look more towards the software frankly. 1.29 has been having little issues everywhere, and i wouldn't be surprised if this is one of them.

Actually, it looks like the problem is 1.29
1.28 has just worked on a second car, one of the same people who has been having problems reading with 1.29.

so it looks like 1.28 is needed to work with these cars.
what's up with 1.29?

The 07 is identical to the 06 as far as I can tell so far. osecuroms.org has a stg1 06 posted. It just needs to be copied over to the 07 base rom and that should be a pretty good starting point.

Ha, finally registered.

Anyway. ECU stuffs now.

What about the timing issues under 3800 revs? the 11*zashaetyat or whatever. Takes everything times 11, and causes it to predet bad.

I've yet to have any problems with the timing or det.

I had a small issue with timing while cruising (Ie light throttle still under vacume) but other than that.... not too many problems..

Do you have logs? With the problems you are describing?

From what I have read timing under 3800 can't be less than 12 degrees? If your runing 93 octan, you really don't want your timing to be less than 12 degrees? Right? So as far as I can tell, this should really only be a problem for people runing 91..

Can you guys see the Speed limitter (fuel cut based on MPH) cell, or is it grayed out?

I am using ecuflash 1.29a and on all of the 06 maps that I have d/l, it is grayed out and needs the address in the rom file.

Can you guys using 1.28 modify this field? I tried all of the different user experience levels and it is still grayed out.

:(

Yes, Shane86 could see my top speed using 1.28. 149 mph.
