HELP! I killed my ECU

I lost ignition power mid way through a re-flash. Now I am locked out of the ECU and I can't reconnect ECU flash
Everytime I turn the ignition on, it goes into test mode (the engine fans cycle) even though I have disconnected all the jumpers. I havn't tried starting the car yet.
Is their anyway (besides buying a new ECU) to fix this?

Reset Battery to car for 30 min
Try again

Tried that still no luck. The fans no longer cycle in test mode

Take that back.....
Fans do cycle in test mode (and not normal mode) but still can't connect to ECU

what part of the rom image were you modifying? if it was the actual operation code of the ecu then you may be in trouble, if it was just maps then things should still be as normal - maps a little screwy but you can always fix that.

I was half way through reflashing some of the fuel maps that I modified.
I tried yesterday to reflash again but I couldn't get ECU flash to connect.

- Check your wires.
- Try to reflash with an other map. (previous bin or stock map)

Wiring is all ok.
It doesn't matter what map I used, i can't get ECUflash to connect to the ECU

if you lost ignition power in reflash progress may damage ECU reflash mode and you can not go to reflash mode anymore.
I think you should ask cboles for this problem.

Can you describe/explain how this happened?

what model/year car do you have? how did the power get cut during the reflash?

Freudian slip
lost ignition power verses lost power
ignition power = controlled by the key
lost power = dead battery, blown fuse,
Top Flash killers
Weak battery (due to ignition on too long)
Kick or knock cable off during flash
Lap top dies during flash
Turbo timer confusion
Depending on where in the read write step the cut happened.

I have a 2003 WRX (ADM).
I lost power via an ignition key off.
When I started the flash process I thought ECUflash didn't make a successful connection to the ECU as it doesn't connect every time (the whole press "OK" then QUICKLY turn your ignition on problem). Then just as I keyed off it connected and started the flash process.
