ECUFlash unable to pull roms of JDM 03 STI's

Hello Colb and others!

I have a friend in my part of the world that is unable to pull roms off 2 JDM 03 STI's.

He himself have a 03 STI swapped in his wrx and can pull it.

Now both cars have never been ecutek [so the owners state]. One of them is very lively. That on feels very good with a very happy IAM = 16 and pulling nice w/ still mods, which is not normal for their gas.

Is there something that he can do to see what the problem is?

He states that ah581 5122 comes up in DD, but he is not sure if the revisions are the same.

ECU Flash and ECU Edit can't open this Rom file because I havn't no XML definition but Enginuity 0.3.2b can

I understand for this particular model, you have to push in the clutch.

You can use XMLWrite to generate description or convert enginuity XML descriptin to ecuEdit format using ecuEdit (new version can do this).

are you saying that you got it to read in ecuflash by pushing the clutch in?

I was told this from my collegue.

I find it surprising, but then again, you have to push the clutch in to start the car.

I think we will need to dissasemble a JDM ecu (at least this one). I hope to find some good information inside :D (Clutch sensor may control some nice feature !)

Do you not have that feature in the export models?

It came out in 2001 for the bugeye. I'm not sure for previous years.

On EDM versions from 2001 to 2005, we don't for sure.

I don't know if we even have a clutch switch or sensor... I'll take a look.

Make sure you have the test connector and flash block jumpered.

Select 2001-2003 WRX from the ECUFlash menu.

Turn on the ignition and then very quickly press the Read button in ECUFlash - doing this quickly is the key to success.

And you don't need to push in the clutch

I just had a look under my dash : there is no clutch switch there (neither under the bonnet ), but interstingly, I noticed there is provision to install one, exactly similar to the brake switch set up.
