Just got my new OpenPort 1.2 cable and jumper, but when testing a flash using EcuFlash 1.28.716 I get the following in the logs

[00:43:18.446] kernel flash disable

From searching the boards, it seems that this may be caused by not attaching the white reflash connector? I'm pretty sure it was attached and I'll go try again later, but is there any other possible cause?

Reading and comparing ROM images seems to work just fine. The only other error I see is "error loading FTD2XX.DLL" when I start up EcuFlash.

OK, went back out, tried again. First test flash got the same voltage error.

Went and disconnected and reconnected the green and white connectors again and finally test flash worked. I did 2 more test flashes to be sure before doing a real flash which also worked.

It must be the white reflash connector that is a bit flaky, not the green one, right? If it was the green one, I would not have been able to read the ROM, right?

I would be suspicious of the reflash connector. PM me you info and I will send you a new one.

Im having the same problem, i took a look at my white flash block and the cables seem to be conected perfectlly, it seems to be making contact. And im still getting the same problem. The log reads +4.5 volts.

Should I manually jump the block with clips?

Edit: Im using ECU explorer, but i unsderstand that the flash tools are openecu tools.

1. Do you have an OpenPort 1.2 cable? The 1.3M cable for Mitsubishis won't work, in case that is what you are using.

2. Can you check the continuity of the jumper connector to see that the wires are properly contacting the pins. If not, I can send you another connector. You could also try jumpering the cars connector yourself to verify that that is the problem. EcuExplorer used OpenEcu code for the reflash, and I believe it works fine, but I can't be sure that there a no issues with that. Have you tried flashing with EcuFlash?

I have a Open port 1.2 so that isnt an issue.

I cant get EcuFlash to work at all, not even read, but im guessing that is a user error. So i've just been using Tari. Should i just jump the car manually with paper clips and try?

did you try testing the connector with an ohmmeter?

I dont have one, but i can get a tester. What should the reading be around?

I'm referring to the jumper connector I sent to you with the cable. The pins with wire between them should be close to 0 Ohms.

I have the feeling our ECU's are 02 based. If i were to set my flash method to 02 International WRX could it hurt my ECU if its wrong?

Got it to work. First off I set the def to wrx02 for the flashmethod. If it works like this it is the only way it can work right? Its not like it can work with this and 05 ?

Instead of using the short block I placed paper clips. Im guessing the short block is ruined?
