Subaru DBW Rom compatability

Are each roms personalized for each ecu? Like an immobilezer code in the Evos.

What I want to do is load the 510c rom (downloaded from here) into my 05 LGT. Currently it has the undefined/unsupported by xmlwrite 521c rom. Would this work or be bad? I was thinking I could try it, and always flash back to the rom I pulled from the car, but hate to really screw something up :)

Reason for this is I would like to modify the boost and attempt to rid the car of the damn "shudder". The 521c rom is supposed to fix the shudder, but it is still there.

Thanks,

Jason

The "surge" fix for the 05MY Legacy Turbo A/T required a corequisite update to the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) ROM, which is independent of the ECU ROM. So if you regress your ECU back to the original image it had when manufactured, you will have "half" of the surge fix installed.

Colby has posted a dump of an ETC which doesn't have the surge fix installed. However, I don't believe the software available here is able to reflash the ETC yet.

yeah, my car doesnt have the fix for the infamous "studder/stutter/surge"
I don't typically notice the surging either.

according to ev8siv3, the 510C versus 500C ETC roms are different and it causes his friends car to run poorly, so I do not know if running a non matching combo like 521C ETC and 510C ECU setup is a wise choice.

As of yesterday I have successfully run the 510C over a normal 500C. The problem with it earlier was the Checksum. I have since eliminated that and it ran very well on a test last night. The ETC was not updated.
