Hi all,

I'm really sorry if i'm miles behind on all this - but i've spent the last 12 month or so working on the early ECU's (as I had an early car!) I've since sold that, and due to a pay rise at work, I've gone out and bought a new age one !

So.... me being me, I want to play with the ECU. I've got one of Colbys OpenPort cables, and I've sent my ECU the 'Init' command - and blow me away - it responded with 50+ bytes ! Amazing !

But.... What do they mean ? I know it's a AF481 ECU (cos it says so on the lid, and ecuExplorer has identified it) but I can't see that in the Init response.

Does anyone have a breakdown of what the bytes in the Init response mean ?

I have that document, but it doesn't explain things like the ECUID bytes or the other three bytes that preceed these.

Also, there is no mention of how you do things like an Ecu Reset, or read out DTC codes. Anyone know how to do this ?

Is there a way of decoding the ECUID bytes ? Does say the first byte tell you the Model Year, the second tell you Engine Size etc etc ? Or are they just some arbitary values ?
