EcuFlash 1.2 DBW Support & UTEC

Guys I have FXT MY04 5MT and wish to dump my ROM image. Before I do so is it safe to do it while I've got UTEC installed. I believe reading the ROM image should'nt be a big issue but flashing the stock ECU via the UTEC might be a different story.

For those of you who don't know the stock harness plugs into the UTEC then the UTEC cables plug into the stock ECU. So to read/flash the signal will need to passthrough the UTEC. Of course the UTEC map selector switch will need to be switched to 0 (stock mode) but I not game to do it just in case I damage both ECU's.

Thanks!

Why don't you just unplug the UTEC for a few minutes while you dump the ROM? It'll take you like 10 secs to do that.

I could do that but it will take much longer than 10 seconds as I've got the kick panel and Carpet back in place so everthing looks stock and is protected.

As you are already aware I was able to dump my ROM image with the UTEC in place. Actually I dump about 4 images without a hassle. However I am not sure if ROM was altered by doing this via the UTEC.

I don't see the UTEC having any effect upon reading out the ECUs ROM.

I haven't had any problems on my car. I have a UTEC.

there is no problem having a UTEC while reading/flashing. I've got one in my car too

It shouldn't be an issue IF you are in pass-through mode (map 0)

It shouldn't be a problem period, in any map position. I leave mine in map 4.

Agreed.

The UTEC's ability to tweak the MAF and MAP signals to the ECU won't affect reflashing at all.

another vote for UTEC does not affect it at all. Reading or writing.
