How do i insure I am using right port with ecuflash

I am having problems downloading from the ecu and was told I may be using the "wrong port" but i don't see any option to change ports on the ecuflash i have which i just dowloaded a week or so ago... heres the post where i talk about the problem im having dling:

There are no ports anymore for Ecuflash.

newer ecuflash doesnt have the port select it automaticly detects the cable, you should see the cable at the lower left of your ECUflash program

i wish i could grab a working copy of older ecuflash to test if it does work since i cant read my ROM, and im dying to...
