Not important.
I have a GC8 but i tested vag-com 3.11 with the openport 1.2 on many vag-group cars and the cable and it work's fine.

Can I use a Vag-Com 409 cable with the OpenPort 1.3 ActiveX Control?

Do you mean Cabletools? I tried with my Vag-com interface and it does not work, because it has different idientifier in the ftdi232 eprom. Cabletools looks for an Openport string (don't remember exactly), but my interface's identifier is something like "usb dual kkline".

I have a vag-com 409 "compatible" cable (FT232BM based) and I'd like to use the OpenPort ActiveX control with it.
if the problem is just the ftdi232 expected identifier I think that is very easy to solve...
I'd like to hear experiences on this I don't want to re-invent the wheel...

Which download of Vag Com works with the Openport cable?
