Installed both Evoscan and Ecuflash plus open port 1.3 for the Tactrix cable. Set the com port 1 and neither of the programs detect a usb cable. It is present in the device manager. any ideas?

Did you install EcuFlash 1.29a? EcuFlash does not have a COM port selection anymore...

So, should the new version automatically detect the openport cable? I'm having the same problem. The bottom right hand corner says "no vehicle interface". How do I get it to see my cable?

repeating Colby... did you install the new drivers?

It installed drivers for the openport when it installed the new ecuflash. I uninstalled the old version first.

after installing the drivers, you need to plug the cable in to allow the USB system to configure the port. It's almost like a second install step.

See if that works.

I did that, and the laptop recognized the cable and said it was installed and ready to use. I used the cable with the older version of ecuflash just fine.

Uninstall Ecuflash and any drivers you see for the Openport from your Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then install Ecuflash 1.29a.

Several people have had this issue, myself included, and this fixed it.

I just installed ecuflash 1.29a and I see the driver on the bottom right hand corner, 'OpenPort 1.3 Subaru TX4592Vj'. However I am not able to read or download the ROM.

However I was able to download my ROM using ecuExplorer, so that means I can't flash my rom with the 1.29a software. Reinstalled driver many a times already and no luck. The interface simply prompts 'read' and 'cancel' with the read greyed out and nothing else happens for downloading.

Any other ideas?

Freon - yes, twice.
I am going to try it again this weekend, from the beginning. Full uninstall. This is how I found this thread :)

Will report back on the weekend with results. Oddly enough, ecuexplorer had no issues instantly using the cable and logging data from it.

lost please help

ok I have tried reinstalling everything again.

From the start, uninstalled EcuFlash1.29a, and both tactrix drivers . Tried to remove the FTDI USB drivers too but the uninstall software does not work, just does nothing.

Rebooted computer, and reinstalled EcuFlash 1.29a, and openport drivers. See the that FTDI was overwritten. Then plugged in the ODBII cable, and pointed the drivers to the \ecuFlash\drivers directory and installed (twice)

When I start ecuflash, I can see it detects the cable on com4, it shows up at the right bottom corner OpenPoer 1.3 Subaru TX4592Vj. If I unplug the USB it disappears and then replug it and it appears again - so I think the driver appears to be properly installed.

Here is the problem, I go to read from ECU. It just prompts for a blank pop-up window with a "READ" and "CANCEL" except the READ is greyed. Nothing appears in the window.

Here is what appears in the EcuFlash program, not sure if it helps.
[00:32:33.218] Version 1.29.906
[00:32:33.218] 8 memory models read.
[00:32:33.703] Unable to find parent metadata sti05base
[00:32:33.703] ROM metadata models A8DH200X.xml is invalid.
[00:32:33.703] 78 ROM metadata models read.
[00:32:33.703] checksum module "subarudbw" loaded.
[00:32:33.703] flashing tool "wrx02" loaded.
[00:32:33.703] flashing tool "wrx04" loaded.
[00:32:33.703] flashing tool "sti04" loaded.
[00:32:33.703] flashing tool "sti05" loaded.
[00:32:33.703] flashing tool "mitsukernel" loaded.
[00:32:33.703] flashing tool "mitsukernelocp" loaded.
[00:32:33.703] flashing tool "mitsubootloader" loaded.

One thing I am noticing though. The tactrix cable is installed on COM4. However, ecuexplorer (which incidentally works perfectly) does not ever try and communicate on COM4 but through \DEV\VCP0
In comparison, EcuFlash (via ProcExp sysinternals) has multiple pointers to COM3 instead as

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\COM3

I am not sure if this could be it, maybe I can change the settings to COM4 in the registry?

I'm so sorry but I am at a lost with this one and I really want it to work.
Is it possible to find the download location for EcuFlash 1.28 since no one seems to have any issues with that version ?

If you need any debug info, do let me know. For now, I might take a look at the registry or modification of the COM ports... any ideas will be much appreciated... *fingers and toes crossed*

back and edit - so I have now swapped from COM4 to COM3 for the tactrix driver, and again it is detected by ecuexplorer. But same issue with EcuFlash, the driver shows up on the right hand bottom corner but can't read from ECU. I must be doing something very obviously wrong. Going to try reinstalling the driver one more time
