Cobb's downloadable maps are encrypted, compressed, smothered, covered, scattered, etc. You can't upload them directly.

However, you can take the values from a Cobb map and input them into your own ROM using the tools available in the community. The only hard part is figuring out what those values are!

I currently have staged maps available on my website www.osecuroms.org

I don't think that asking someone to spend some time and do a little reading is too much to ask.

"Hello Guys, I don't want to actually learn anything about my car or my ecu or this project, and I'm too impatient and/or lazy to contribute any effort on my part by reading anything, but can I copy a Cobb map into my car for free or not?"

I'm not interested in helping those people, my time is more valuable than that. On the other hand, if someone is stuck at some spot in understanding the process, has already made a serious effort and is finally crying out for help, I'll do everything short of getting on a plane to come and see them.

I took a look at the map for the VF34 and it gave me some ideas about how much adjustment to make to the wastegate duties and turbo dynamics maps on my car which has a similar turbo (VF30) to stop it overboosting. However, this is only a clue to a starting point and I still have more work to do to get it right.

I don't think it would be wise to consider using a full map that someone else has done for a different car anyway, but during the learning process it is useful to be able to refer to a map that has been done by a professional or experienced tuner, particularly if you can compare it to the standard map and see the areas that have been changed and the kind of changes that have been made.

Having said that though I think the most helpful thing for learners like me would be a step by step walkthrough of a remap on a car from scratch, factory map, to illustrate the process of remapping and the best way to approach it, explaining what adjustments were made to what maps, why and what the results were. For example, I read on one thread that the fuelling should be done first then once that is done it can be pretty much left alone. I don't understand how that can be, wouldn't some adjustment be needed once the boost map was modified ?

I saw these articles on the hondata site, it would be great if we could get a wiki together along these lines for scoobys.

Some of that information is just as valid. In fact, tuning any modern turbo 4 cylinder should be based on some of the same principles.

There are some good UTEC tuning guides out there. Again, the same general principles apply, though the UTEC is based mostly on boost vs. RPM rather than airflow vs. RPM.

I'll see if I can slap together some general tuning principles. First step is understanding general trends.

That would be great, thanks

along the same topic, can i make changes to my cobb map? I have an accessport and am thinking of getting street tuner, but thought I'd try improving on my current maps with free software first. Can it be done? BTW, it's a 06 WRX USDM

I've uploaded C0BB's Stage 1, Stage 2, and VF34 maps in this forum:
http://www.enginuity.org/viewforum.php?f=15

They are only copied values and do not have copyrighted code.

All maps were deleted, is there any chance you could send me those maps by any alternate way? My ECU is completly diferent from the US ECU, but i would like to compare some of the values on it to what I was given as a Stage I map.

Maybe you should stop posting those roms and then people wouldn't make false allegations against this site instead of yours!

Those maps were removed long ago when everyones panties got in a bunch. Do your research before you make false allegations and maybe there won't be any more circulating.
