I'm quite keen on the Cobb AP + StreetTuner product, but they don't currently support JDM ECUs.
I was wondering if it would be possible to use a USDM WRX ECU (I understand they are the same ECU, just with different flash image) on my car, which would then allow me to run the Cobb AP + StreetTuner

Wouldn't that be better to ask at the Cobb site?

Maybe, the question was more pointed at USDM WRX ECU compatibility with a JDM STI - e.g. sensors, connections etc..

You're not going to be able to hook up the AVCS wires from the cam position sensors without a JDM ECU, or possibly a standalone. I have a JDM LGT swap into my 2002 WRX and am having issues with that exact thing right now.

Go EcuTek and be done with it. Cobb's non-compete with a Japan company that does AP style tuning is their own fault. Sounds to me like they used some code or some hardware designs from this company and then signed a non-compete for that part of the market.
Either that or start tinkering arround with the tools available here and tune it yourself.

A USDM WRX ECU on a JDM STi will throw a ton of codes, not to mention make the motor run like crap. Also, AVCS is disengaged.
The JDM STi motor and the USDM WRX are two completely different beasts needing two completely different ECUs.
