Getting back into it (few questions)

Postby subarudriver502 » Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:34 pm

Alright, its been a lonnnng time since I have done any sort of open source tuning. I had such a hard time locating enginuity due to the name change. The last tune I did was last fall when the weather was nice and cool and such. Well now due to the extreme hot weather I have been noticing some detonation on those hot days. So after panicking thinking enginuity was dead I finally found RomRaider. I pulled the current map I had on there and then realized I got a bad BRAIN FART and also noticed that the new RomRaider has come a long way since the original.

In the Fuel column, which table do I use to add more fuel to the mix? Primary Open Loop or Primary open loop failsafe? I noticed the failsafe table has a wider rpm range of 7600 vs. 6800.

Also a higher number in the table means less fuel correct? (Red blocks make me think lean/aggressive....this is my brainfart)

Now with timing, I've noticed this new program has more to play with. I believe with enginuity, there was only base timing. So with RR I should stick with just base timing correct? Any advantages to tweaking the Timing advance Maximum table or the AVCS?

And obviously (in the base timing table) The smaller the number, the less aggressive the timing is correct? (such as green or blue instead of red blocks)

Thanks for the help. I'm really liking what I see from this new software. Nice changes from last year. I feel like I'm learning how to do all this stuff all over again  Sorry for any misspellings, its 3:30 AM

EDIT: ALSO with RomRaider, it doesn't seem to want to data log for me! I have everything connected, even selected COM5 instead of 3 but no luck :(

Ok I retuned the Primary Fuel, and the failsafe one to the same values, and adjusted the base timing, and dont have anymore det, and quiet possibly am pulling harder than I have all summer. So everything is great.

My only problem now is the logger doesnt work. It worked on enginuity when I used to have that. I have the usb plugged in, car running, attributes that I want to log selected, and even switched between COM3 and COM5 but that damn thing says it cant connect?????
