question on using inherited def

If the only change I want is the speed limit, is it safe to use an inherited def of the ROM image that is for the same year and model but different type of transmission?

The image I need to work on is A2ZJD00A (04 JDM LGT AT). The latest def available only has the MT version A2ZJD00B. I have already submitted the AT image to Romraider, but eager to have the speed limit cut before the next release of the def file.

No, it is not safe unless you know what you are doing. If the address is not the same between both ROMs, then you take a chance of changing some random value in the ROM which could have unpredictable consequences.
